Die Fotografin Margit Dobronyi kam 1956 als Flüchtling aus Budapest nach Wien. Vierzig Jahre lang arbeitete sie als »Haus- und Hoffotografin« in der sich langsam etablierenden kleinen jüdischen Gemeinde und wurde durch ihre charmante Aufdringlichkeit und ihr übergroßes Blitzlicht berühmt. Das so entstandene riesige Fotoarchiv der heute 95-Jährigen wurde zur wichtigsten und unmittelbarsten Bildquelle der Geschichte jüdischen Lebens in Wien nach 1945.

Margit Dobrony, a photographer, came as a refugee from Hungary to Vienna in 1956. She was the photographer of the small Jewish community in Vienna for the time of 40 years. The huge picture archive of the now 95 years old woman has become the most important source for the history of Jewish life in Vienna after 1945.
