Sexualised violence against women during the nationalsocialistic persecution hasn´t been a subject of scientific interest for a long time. Thanks to this book, public and political awareness has risen. The authors give a new insight to the power structures inside a concentration camp with a particular emphasis on the factors of sex and gender. They analyse the relationships between offenders and victims as well as the many different forms of sexualised violence; from nakedness and denial of privacy to forced sterilisation and prostitution. They review aspects like menstruation, pregnancy and motherhood inside a concentration camp and the consequences of persecution and traumatic experience concerning motherhood and partnership after 1945.
